Stone Cold Fox – The Young EP
Written by Fares Chehabi. As far as debut EPs go, this is a strong performance by indie rock band Stone Cold Fox. Their EP The Young is set for release on the 18th of May, and it consists entirely of melodic, catchy songs. Really, all five songs have enough quality to be released as singles. Excluding guest vocalist Madeline Mondrala, the band is made up of five members. The group was founded by Kevin Olken and Ariel Loh in 2011. Kevin Olken is the frontman of the band, as he takes responsibility for songwriting, guitar, and vocals. Otherwise, it is clear that all four other members of the band – Ariel Loh (synths & production), Roman Dean (drums),…

Who is House Shoes?
Words by Semper Azeez-Harris (@AtStreetLevel1). From a hip-hop perspective the name J Dilla commands adulation and respect to such a point that the mere association with him is a massive notch on a hip-hop cv. DJ House Shoes is a hip-hop producer and of course DJ who was a great friend to Dilla but in a sense I do him a dis-service by suggesting that his acclaim is attributed to Dilla because he himself is an institution of rap who is widely seen as Detroit’s “hip-hop ambassador” to the world. Watch this for more of an idea about House Shoes: Having worked with names from Aloe Blacc, to Elzhi and J Dilla over his 18…

It’s only the beginning for Kal Lavelle
Words and Questions by Semper Azeez-Harris (@AtStreetLevel1) Kal Lavelle put simply is a brilliant vocalist and songwriter who manages to make her songs have the impact of a bat to your heart when it comes to producing real emotional reactions. I had the pleasure of witnessing Kal in full flow at the brilliant, I Luv Live, where she performed for a packed out XOYO. With a red jacket and peroxide blonde hair she stood out but it was her acoustic performance which stood out-captivating the audience and leaving a lot of people with the obligatory massive smile you get when you hear a performer at the top of their game. Her stand out tracks were…

C2C Release New EP Down The Road
Words by Semper Azeez-Harris (@AtStreetLevel1). Rappers generally get the limelight the world over at the cost of the DJ but C2C are a French DMC winning quartet 20SYL, GREEM, ATOM and PFEL that not only deserve the limelight but indeed grab the limelight with their absolutely spectacular shows where the quartet act like one. With their EP Down The Road released on the 07 / 05 / 12 billed as “electronic goodness” –(which it is) and their clever compositions of music using just 4 decks is truly awe inspiring and brings back to the fore the amazing talent that DJ’s wield when they bust some supreme sk-sk-sk-skills!
